Hameau du Père Noël, a fairytale village at Col du Mont-Sion

A place open all year round

Unlike most Christmas villages, which only come to life in December, Hameau du Père Noël welcomes families during several seasons: over the Easter holidays, in summer and, of course, throughout the long Christmas season, from mid-October to early January. Whatever the season, the magic of the holidays is in the air, with wooden decorations, lights and characters.

The Hameau is in the municipality of Saint-Blaise, at Col du Mont-Sion. It is part of Grand Parc d’Andilly, a family leisure complex located just a few minutes away in Andilly.

An adventure born from a village’s energy

The Hameau and Grand Parc are run by the Le Petit Pays association, chaired by Vincent Humbert, mayor of Andilly. The adventure began in the 1990s with the local festival committee, which was already organizing a Santa Claus festival and a medieval festival in the villages of the municipality. The project grew from 2008 onwards. According to the news site Mesinfos, Grand Parc d’Andilly and the Hameau now welcome around 413,000 visitors a year from Haute-Savoie, the wider region and neighboring Switzerland.

What can you see at Hameau du Père Noël?

Santa Claus’s house

This is the heart of the visit. An old-fashioned, traditional home in red and green, filled with the scent of wood, where you can explore the kitchen, bedroom and workshop where toys are made. Santa Claus welcomes the children himself, often by his sleigh in the garden. He is there every day the Hameau is open, but he is very popular during the Christmas season, so you may need to be a little patient to meet him.

The house of the Mrs Clauses

Santa Claus’s sisters, the Mrs Clauses, have created their own spaces in the Hameau, with a softer, more feminine touch. They also help bring the place to life, including by telling stories to children.

The Pacifier Attic

This is one of the Hameau’s most unusual places. Children who feel ready can give their pacifier to Santa Claus here. Thousands of pacifiers are on display, watched over by the Sandman. It’s a lovely way to help little ones through this sometimes difficult milestone, and a charitable gesture too: for every pacifier given, a meal is donated to a child in Cambodia through the Pour un Sourire d’Enfant association.

The Elves’ Garden

In the garden, you’ll find Santa Claus’s sleigh, a large illuminated Christmas tree and mailboxes where you can write to Santa Claus, Mrs Claus and their friends. The elves have their own house too, in the same style as Santa’s, but built to their scale.

The Storybook Cottage

Throughout the day, the Mrs Clauses and other residents of the Hameau tell stories here, either on the ground floor or in the attic. It’s an ideal break for little ones between explorations.

Hameau du Père Noël and Grand Parc d’Andilly

Hameau du Père Noël is one of the themed areas of Grand Parc d’Andilly. During the Christmas season, Grand Parc d’Andilly is also decked out for the holidays, with activities, shows and outdoor decorations. The two sites are separate and about 1.2 km apart: you can visit one or the other, or combine both in one day with a “2 parks” package.

Our tips for a successful visit

Choose the right time

  • Come on a weekday or at opening time: weekends in November and December, and the Christmas holidays, are the busiest times.
  • Make the most of October: the season starts on October 17, with the full Christmas atmosphere already in place and often shorter wait times.
  • Allow around 2 hours to visit the Hameau, or longer if you’re combining it with Grand Parc.

Planning a visit with young children

  • Leave the stroller in the car: strollers are not allowed inside the Hameau. Bring a baby carrier for little ones.
  • Bring the pacifier if your child is ready to give it to Santa Claus.
  • Prepare a letter to drop in the garden mailboxes.
  • Dress warmly: temperatures at Col du Mont-Sion are chilly in November and December, and part of the visit takes place outdoors.

Good to know

  • Pets are not allowed, even on a leash.
  • The Hameau is wheelchair accessible without assistance, with a reserved parking space and accessible restrooms.
  • For refreshments, Mrs Claus’s crêperie serves crêpes and hot chocolate, while Chalet des Casse-Noisettes serves waffles.
